Leather and Loafers

I started making this skirt with left over bits of leather about a month ago but with my highly evolved skills of procrastination, a 2hour job turned into a month long saga. I wore this out yesterday and felt like a don, until the sun came out and made me look like a fool in my fur.

Fashion Week Frenzy

It's nearly a week since the end of LFW and in true last-minute-Betty fashion I'm only now posting about it. I spent all week running around trying to get my reviews in on time so I didn't really have time to take outfit shots or do any streetstyle but check out Promise's blog here for loads of updates..
The fashion week sheen has well and truly worn off for me, although I liked a few of the collections-Eugene Lin, David Koma, Jena Theo, Tata Naka, and Melissa Diamantidi being my faves-what really excited me was the work of recent CSM graduate, Aisling Farrell.. I took a couple of pictures of the pieces she had on exhibit at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout venue, in LOVE is an understatement!
All in all LFW was crazy and I was a sleep-deprived mess but I wouldn't have missed it for anything! Check out a few of my personal fashion week pics on le instagram (at)floriesms..

DIY: Leather peplum top

Hi all, I've been busy working and getting my shit together, 2012 has literally flown by and there's so much stuff I promised myself I'd do at the beginning of the year that I still haven't done. As per usual I've spent a sizeable chunk of my time playing with fabric, the most recent result being this leather peplum top I made the other day.. had intentions of wearing it to a wedding next weekend but the thought of having to femme it up fills me with dreaaaad so I'm probably gonna dress it all the way down till the seams come apart because I'm kind of in love with it!
I used a basic top pattern to make this and chose not to hem it because I'm lazy but check this video out if you're thinking of making one of your own!

Cuffed

let me start off by saying YASSSS for Narnia-esque wardrobes, I got these Motel trousers about a year ago and completely forgot I had them till I decided I wanted to show a lil midriff for dinner last week and wen't rifling through my stuff for something appropriate. Accessorised my laid back ensemble with these cuffs and matching choker, which are perfect pieces for me as I'm trying to edit my jewellery down to statement pieces only.
anyone else kind of obsessed with Elle Varner? I've had about 3 tracks off Perfectly Imperfect on replay since it came out..

Happy Feet

I don't know where the hell this year is running to but I'm excited to see it out on a high, I have a happy mind and happy feet, what more can a ninjette like myself ask for?! After running away from colour for so long, I realised I needed something in my wardrobe to match my brand spanking new joie de vivre, so on a whim I bought these ankle strap sandals from Nelly about a month ago and I haven't been able to keep them off my feet!
