Fashion Week Frenzy

It's nearly a week since the end of LFW and in true last-minute-Betty fashion I'm only now posting about it. I spent all week running around trying to get my reviews in on time so I didn't really have time to take outfit shots or do any streetstyle but check out Promise's blog here for loads of updates..
The fashion week sheen has well and truly worn off for me, although I liked a few of the collections-Eugene Lin, David Koma, Jena Theo, Tata Naka, and Melissa Diamantidi being my faves-what really excited me was the work of recent CSM graduate, Aisling Farrell.. I took a couple of pictures of the pieces she had on exhibit at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout venue, in LOVE is an understatement!
All in all LFW was crazy and I was a sleep-deprived mess but I wouldn't have missed it for anything! Check out a few of my personal fashion week pics on le instagram (at)floriesms..

The Climb

SOOOOOOOOOO.. before i say anything let me just tell you all that though i didn't get a picture with Amber Rose I met her at the Pam Hogg show and she was AMAZINGLY NICE.. i screamed 'I Love You' in her face [she was a foot away from me] and she said 'I Love You To' and smiled at me with teeth then pouted.. i was on the verge of tears the entire show!!!
[i'm performing action replays of this encounter for anyone interested..]
Moving swiftly on..

Aminaka Wilmont S/S2011
I LOVED this collection a little too much, wearable, dissectible and directional all in one!
the duo behind Aminaka Wilmont are the latest in a long line of designers who've recently explored the theme of Evolution (like the re-emergence of the modern woman yada yada etc blah blah blah) Although Balenciaga (S/S 07) and McQueen (S/S 10) explored the theme on a monumental level, i'm still interested and excited by how different designers interpret it in their own ways..
I feel like Aminaka Wilmont are the McQueen to my Dasha Zhukova.. geddit?!?.. worevahh
I'm a lowly fashion assistant now (and i love every fucking minute don't get me wrong) but soon and very soon I'll be editor in chief of Pop magazine..
over-worked, tired, annoyed, hungry, cold, broke
anyway all i know is that it feels amazing when you can humble yourself enough to be able to appreciate that the lows you're going through are only preparing you for when the peaks start getting progressively higher!

LFW round-up

I'm entirely too sporadic with my posting lately, 'what's with this silly behaviour i hear you ask?'
ahh well thats what i like to call the dissertation-emo's...when hard degrees happen to good people they stop doing normal fun things ie. shopping/going to LFW/eating(total plus!)/having boyfriend(also a plus if you hate human interaction)/having a social life etc.
so here are the few bits i liked from London Fashion Week, is it just me or was there something missing?who stole London's cool?

1.Louise Goldin
*female activism at its best her collections are always strong and well considered. AND the silhouettes this time around are emosh. Louise is my nigg because she's here to CREATE and push things. wearable but still oh so structural..no sloppy 2006-esque slogan tee-shirts here.. yes you cunt-face-celebuspawn-bum-sucking henry holland
2.Burberry
3.Christopher Kane
4.Basso and Brooke
5.Peter Pilotto
*the coat on the left is giving me that nut
6.Antonio Berardi
*testament to the lack of FOCUS is the fact that the only pieces to grab my attention were the long velvet dresses towards the end.Shame because his SS10 collection was gorgeous.

*kanye shrug* that really was it

London Fashion week!

Oh Em Gee i hear MARK FAST is on the market for a new stylist *raises hand* i'm about to do some major begging of friendship because his collection is AMAAAHZE.
its an obvious one for me seeing as i champion body-con, but i love how there's more to it than just some tight dresses with bits cut out...one moment i'm seeing high-quality cobweb the next moment i'm seeing fish scales?!!?

*le sigh*

DANIELLE SCUTT needs to stop doing this before i catch a serious case.
her collection's a little like this: 1part pilgrim+5parts sweetheart+1part quarter back+3parts sexy=right up my alley...
just the sweetest collection,I love how she made the shoulders look sweet and romantic but still really strong and structural AND how did she use a palette of predominantly black, pink, red and white and not end up with some emo reject collection?!?!

again *le sigh*

Neffertitian Orgy at PPQ... seduced by the geometry,Adidas references, wide pegged trousers and Sessilee...all very necessary in my life ASAP

and again *le sigh*

ASHISH...I LOVE,I NEED,I WILL STEAL OR SURVIVE ON KNOCK-OFFS
all these brights all this excitement!i dont even care if it looks tacky-or jocked DVF's Obama dress a little

**LE SIGH**
