Pink Placebo

I self-medicate with clothing sometimes, as superficial as it may sound the texture or colour of a piece of clothing can sometimes have a profound effect on my state of mind. I've been really confused, contemplative and distracted since my friend's wedding this past weekend.. what flavour should the cake be at my wedding? why am I a spinster at 22? will Don Draper accept my marriage proposal? if Don says no can I get married to myself? will I always be this emotionally detached from real life, forever pining after fictional men/ cartoon characters (cc: Johnny Bravo, Kocoum from Pocahontas, Lloyd Dobler from Say Anything, Rufio from Hook, King Leonidas from 300 etc).
After days of this nonsense I decided to cut the crap, put on my new pink Motel shorts (pink makes me feel uncluttered and unmessy) and my old grey t-shirt (anything grey marl makes me feel clean, fresh and under control), this super simple ensemble helped me get my head back into work-mode!

Pressure Points

Forgive me if you've seen me traipsing around Gloucester Place, Portland Place and the wider Oxford circus area in general looking like one of the living dead, my life has been the definition of stressed, pressed and oppressed for the past few weeks. I've been working my bum off and it's slowly causing me to look like the deformed, midget snitch from 300 (..yeah, the ugly fucker that wasn't allowed in the army and then went and sold Leonidas out to effing Xerxes and ruined eveeerything.
As you may or may not be able to tell, reigning my crazy in is proving a bit hard after a solid month of breathing-is-a-luxury-you-can't-afford-kinda pressure..
ps. I'm midway through making 2 dresses for my besties engagement party and wedding, if I don't end up launching myself through a closed window before the week's over I'll be posting the process early next week.

DIY: Double Finger Ring

I got the idea to do this a long time ago after I saw something similar on this lovely tumblr ( I'm either crazy, a liar or homegirl deleted all evidence of it :-/ ..totes the latter). I actually put this DIY off for a long time just because I wasn't sure if I could pull it off, and if I'm honest I was also really sceptical about buying crystals off ebay but I'm HAPPY with the outcome and I think it's easy enough for everyone to at least try!
what you'll need:
1 x point crystal depending on finger width
1 x 30cm of copperwire
2 x adjustable ring blanks
1 x tube of superglue

Method:
step 1. adjust ring blanks to size of fingers.
step 2. glue the ring blanks onto the flattest face of the crystal ( leave for 10mins to dry )
step 3. measure out about 16cm of copperwire to wrap round the crystal
step 4. weave wire round the crystal in desired pattern ( sorry forgot to take pictures of this step :-/ )

Motel Rocks!

had the pleasure of joining the ladies at Motel Rocks for their showroom opening last week and I had a great time! I got the opportunity to drool over the A/W collection which included the pieces below that I personally loved (seriously why don't I own tartan peg legs already waaaah ?_?)
nb. the rose-print playsuit (top right) MUST be mine as soon as it hits the store!!

and now for the personal fail of the day.. imagine running from Mornington Crescent to Great Portland Street like the devil was trying to chew on your bum, all the while lighting 10 menthols in quick succession, because that's exactly what I was doing up until the moment I stepped into the event..  I hope that little intro explains my sweaty-betty face and the tumbler of wine, if not then whatever.

Turban Swag On

Hey everyone who missed me..? [silence] who wishes I would go back into the dark hole I just crawled out of..? [cheers] so I've been really busy chasing my dreams, having pain killer induced fits (true story, it's not the first time, and I didn't die so yay!)
Anywaydoh sunday afternoon I decided my roots needed a lift, fast-forward 40mins and there's me standing outside my bathroom door nearly in tears because my scalp is on fire and my little sister's taking a bath. I've spent this week trying to find a feasible five minute face that's dramatic enough to distract people from my disgusting hair but light enough so as not to melt when the sun comes out.. I'm still working on it, but I've managed to not wear foundation all week ::rejoice rejoice and again I say rejoice because foundation is the bane of my existence:: just some concealer, a little eye make-up, lippy and I'm out the door.. although I should really take the time out to thank this black scarf (formerly a black dress o_o) for being my turban of choice this week!
Also made the skirt a few weeks ago for £5 so if you have a sewing machine please go to a fabric shop, get some chiffon, some waist elastic and make your own chiffon skirt. Save your money for donuts and krushems instead of buying one of these for like £50..
