Corinne Day : The Face

If you're in London and you have half an hour to spare head down to Gimpel Fils on Davies Street for the Corinne Day exhibit they've got up. I'm usually drawn to flashy, obnoxious photography but the frankness of Corinne's work blows me away, she captured the honest, unassuming purity of youth so beautifully.
it's over in 5 days so make sure you go!!

Imaginary Set: Fashion Week

I absolutely envy anyone who gets to experience Fashion Week as a carefree spectator because the stress that goes with fashion assistant duties during the supposed 'Fashion Olympics' (making schedules, confirming tickets, travel plans, hotel rooms and chauffeured cars etc.) allows the least amount of enjoyment! While in reality I'm running around getting on with general lackey duties, in my head I'm a high-flying freelancer with a driver and front row tickets to all the shows. If your imaginary self's been at the shows you've probably seen my imaginary self sporting something like this..
Snake Print Pants - Zara
T-shirt - T by Alexander Wang
Blazer - Helmut Lang
Gold torque - H&M
Studded Bracelet - Givenchy
Signet Ring - H&M
Pashli Bag - Phillip Lim
Tassel Loafers - Alexander Wang

Foxy Lady

I have a real hankering for super-short runner shorts right now, and the fact that I want them in leathers, silks and crepes rather than the sporting materials they only seem to exist in is really not a problem at all because I'm on a mission to make my own.
After watching Dogtown & Z-Boys for the twenty-millionth time (and wondering for the fifty-millionth time how to time-travel and groupie it up for the Zephyr crew, Tony Alva in particular) I fell really hard for the classic 70's sportswear - seriously in love with everything but the zip-up track tops.
I was originally gonna make these runners in some lightweight peach silk I have lying around, but I decided in the name of all that is decent, modest and non-lingerie looking to use this leopard print cotton fabric.. the print's cute, the fabric's durable and most importantly you cannot see every crater and dimple on my bum through it (WINNING.com)

DIY: Knotted Cut-Out Dress

I didn't take any good pictures whilst doing this D.I.Y but I think it's pretty self-explanatory.
all you need is a maxi dress you loathe and an hour of free time.
-put the dress on and mark a point about 1.5" below your boobs
-unpick the side seams to the point you marked
-out the dress on again and tie a big knot first in the front, then another in the back
-take dress off, pin the seams back together and run them through the machine on a zigzag stitch

I DIY'd this ages ago but kind of forgot until a week ago when I realised Summer's officially over for us (as if it ever began) so I wore it last week when we had a little bitty sunshine.

Me Me Me

I had the absolute pleasure of being Black-Fashion tumblr's Fashionista Of The Week this week and I'd like all of you (yep all three of you!) to 'ave a gander at my feature!! I'm one of those people who doesn't give a fudge about giving a fudge, so being as lazy as I am I find myself wearing simple ensembles and strategically adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing accessories to make my look either dressy or casual..
ps. you can also check out my tumblr here..

DIY: Body Chain

I have no experience working with chains and thangs, and I'm severely lacking in patience and concentration but I sat down a few days ago with 5metres of chain and 200 jump rings and went to work on my own body chain. With the help of a pair of scissors and a pair of pliers it took me about 2 hours and 3 false starts to get it to where i wanted! I measured around myself then freestyled it with the form I wanted it to take and the drape of the chains.. hands down the easiest diy I've ever committed myself to, email if you have questions!
in other news, I have hair again!!!
