Hans Feurer x Vogue China

Liu Wen looks friggin gorgeous in this editorial for Vogue China! I love the pastels and how all the chunky gold jewels add an early 90's feel to the spread, I'm actually a little surprised they didn't pull anything form Alexander Wang's SS11 collection, I think the mint pieces he sent down the catwalk would've been perfect for this spread but what do I know right? [mumbles] I'm Just a Chi-Town Ninja With a Nas Flow
Now everyone watch the video below and tell me I'm not a complete duhhbrain for expecting to see Liu Wen doing her thaaang in the background somewhere ..?

Hollywood Heaven

It's been barely a month since Jane Russell passed and already another Hollywood great has left the building in a white chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce Phantom. Hug your furs, use a rough cut diamonds to scratch Liz Was 'Ere into a window pane and pour a bottle of Dom Perignon out into your infinity pool for the homie Elizabeth Taylor.

Topaz Turban Tuesday

Had an absolute disaster trying to touch up my re-growth (yep the entire 4mm of growth), I wont bore you with the details but I will say this, cream peroxide, powder bleach and a duncebreed running on 3 hours of sleep equals epic, epic failure.
Until everyone gets comfortable with my hair (which I LOVE btw), I'm being as nondescript as humanly possible.. whilst maintaining my obligation to wear an accessory of colour at least once a week..

Late

Had such a relaxing weekend full of ice lollies, wine, ebay, family and food!
went to the Tate Modern to see my bestie speak at the opening of an exhibit of Mona Hatoum's works, but due to my BPT (definition to be found under CPT in the Urban Dict.) my mumma and I got there just as it was wrapping up-tut tut-as well as missing the talk I took like 5 really abysmal pictures.. note to self: Do Better
myself, Yasmin(the gentlest of all Gentlewomen.. look at her cute basket!) and Dani in a Cut and Swallow original!
so JEALOUS of her Lita's ..might have to treat myself to a pair now they're actually in store at Office!
Randomly became obsessed with black denim cut-offs on Friday night, so insanely obsessed that I cut up a pair of my reserve black skinnies just so I could wear them the next day..
how I wore them on saturday with an old shirt of my mum's, suede booties annnnd unripped tights for once.. I figured the ripped shorts filled the 'hoochie' quota for this outfit.

Sweets For My Feet

The eternal British-weather enthusiast in me will never be subdued, so far we've only had two full days of sunny weather and I'm already munching on solero's, and eyeing up anything and everything with a little colour on it, that might help me overcome my colour-phobia before the full onset of the great British summer. Guys, all hail the 'sours' collection by Kandee shoes which appear to be the perfect accompaniment to my dark, monochromatic sense of dress.. I'm currently convincing myself buying a pair in every colour would be a wise investment for the summer of colour blocking ahead,
my picks go as follows..
Raspberry Sours
Lemon Sours

Let me also say that I would LOOOOOOOVE to go on a tryst with the 'Peanut Crunchy' booties on my feet..

Friday After Last

It's getting a little bit brighter, but the weather's still disappointing for this time of year, nevertheless every time a complaint attempts to leave my mouth I have to remind myself how blessed I am that all we're suffering from in England right now is measly drizzle.. and that said drizzle wont carry my home and loved ones away.
With that in mind, a day I'd have called mundane a week ago, I now consider extremely blessed. I woke up in a warm bed, had 6 pots of Petit Filous for breakfast, 2 jam doughnuts for brunch (don't judge me), watched The Wizards Of Waverly Place and had a nap. In the face of the seemingly insurmountable hardships others are going through, I'm so thankful for everything I have right now.
I remember crying really hard when my vocal tutor told me the story behind the song below.. I cant begin to comprehend what the people of Japan are going through a week after the Earthquake and Tsunami hit them.. I have no words

Cherry Blossom

I just checked out Steedlord's new video '123 If You Want Me', the styling in the shots with Sonya turban swagging on us all are amazing, for the simple-yet very effective-use of colour..
outside it's horrible and gloomy but in my head it's all pastely, like a nice, gentle medley of the salmony pink and powdery-blue! While we're on the subject I as soon as I watched the video I hopped my ass onto ebay to begin bidding on a pair of these..
 also available from office shoes

Rihanna x Vogue

I'm not completely sold on the editorial but with a face and body like that, I'm not surprised the Bajan bombshell got tapped for the cover of the 'Shape Issue' of American Vogue, say what you will about her but the one thing you cannot deny is that Rihanna has one of the most envied bodies right now..
I see no real cohesion in the shots but what do you guys think? is it good, bad or average?

Current Mood

pre-spring
just as I was starting to get excited about the sunny weather the rain came and washed all signs of spring away, so back I go to my uniform of grey and black. I'm a lazy girl with simple tastes so I'll probably be looking a little something like this until the sun comes out.
on another note though, I'm seriously in love with these suede Doc Marten's Brogues.. and the YSL Arty ring.. and the Proenza Schouler messenger bag! where's my Daddy Warbucks dammnit!?!

Bodies

It's testament to my lack of sanity that I left my house and trekked halfway across London in this drizzly weather, in a pair of leather hotpants. After one man directed me to the bus stop (situated in his bedroom), and another stalked me round the scary backroads of Croydon, I realised that maybe things need to change on my part.. a 'dress as you'd like to be addressed' kind of thing..
In my head Hotpants= sexy BUT Socks and Creepers= masculine, clumpy, ugly etc. THEREFORE I should really have been repelling every man I came across, but I'll try my 'revealing ensemble'+'ugly footwear' combo again to really gage whether my clothing habits need to change.
shirt; Topshop/ shorts & t-shirt; H&M/ creepers; Camden/ bag; Marc Jacobs

Paris Fashion Week

With all the hoopla that's been going down in Paris over the past week, I stopped looking out for the shows and followed the gossip instead.. but I've whittled down my faves in order of LOVE

Prada
it's weird how cohesive the collection is considering Miuccia's main reference points are '80's power-dressing' and 50's elegance.. LOVE everything from the top-heavy silhouettes to the A-line fur trimmed coats.

Givenchy
Baroque+Black Panthers= big jungle cats roaming around the Colosseum, hunting prey and being all majestic n shit.. one of those bombers needs to find its way to my wardrobe

Balmain
I personally don't understand how Decarnin sticks with the same formula every season but still manages to make every collection look fresh ?_? (serious question mark-eye)

Anne Valerie Hash
I think this collection is the closest to what I'm aiming for come A/W, very accessible, wearable looks from AVH

Rue du Mail
love the knitted pieces and the tailored cut-out pieces..

ooh ahhh Paris moment courtesy of Ajak Deng at Mugler.. I love her so much

Transition

Spring is right around the corner so before it truly takes hold, I'm taking it upon myself to slowly incorporate more colour into my wardrobe. My hatred for structure and colour is unfortunate and if left untreated will lead to my demise.. my strategy to phasing out the excessive amount of black and grey in my life is to wear an obnoxiously bright item of clothing every couple of days BY FORCE! easing myself into this by first doing tops and small accessories eg. socks as seen below
lipstick; Mac (Ruby Woo) / mustard t-shirt; H&M/ blue socks; H&M
absolutely love my newly acquired croc-leather Mulberry shoulder bag courtesy of my uncle who found it in a house clearance he did a week ago! is anyone else trying and failing to incorporate more colour into their wardrobe?? speak to me guys i neeeeed help!

B. I. G.

I'm a little bit ashamed that my favourite song of Biggie's isn't some obscure, demo, b-side affair that only myself and the studio engineer know the real lyrics to, but I'm not cool like that so Big Poppa gets my vote for best Biggie song ever ..YAY!

Lady Of Leisure

I think it's a major accomplishment if I'm awake, bathed, fed and dressed by 11am on a Saturday morning. So I'm currently giving myself a pat on the back for getting my shit together this morning, if I'm needed I'll be found reading the new issue of Lurve in my reading corner.. yes the corner where I hoard all the copies of Vogue, Teen Vogue, Purple, V, 10, Numero, Love, Pop etc, that have survived many a spring clean. In my defence however, 3 years on a fashion degree would turn anyone into a magazine librarian, I only convinced myself to throw half my collection away a month ago ..believe it or not, some of my Teen Vogue's date back to 2004 ..now on a scale of 1 to 10 how lame am I?
wearing charity shop jumper and scarf and ASOS leggings and jewellery

absolutely obsessed with Lykke Li's new album, contemplating getting the physical copy so I can hold it when i listen and add it to my defunct collection of CDs .. like a weirdo.

M.F.W

my MFW could easily stand for Milan Fashion Week but it doesn't, in this case the moniker stands for Marni For (silent The) Win!!
I'm sure you'll agree with me when I say that Milan is the place where Gentlewomen are most successful at maintaining their sexy, there's a classy, sexy, money energy milling in the air over there that I need to get involved in ASAP, which brings me round to my point very nicely.
I remember reading issue after issue of TeenVogue and being enamoured with everything but missing the point completely when it came to Marni, all i saw were modest shifts and varying shades of khaki, fast-forward seven or eight years and I'm seriously beginning to appreciate exactly what Marni is about.. GENTLEWOMANLINESS!
What Amy Astley was doing when she was including all those Marni pieces in what seemed to be every issue of TeenVogue was slowly marinading me (yes me and only me), in gentlewoman spices in preparation of my inevitable realisation that Marni is the ultimate ladies-who-lunch-but-still-do-other-really-important-stuff label.
Aside from the obvious houses that showed straaaawng collections last week cough cough 'Gucci', I have to admit that Marni stole the entire week for me. The hemlines, the cuts, the prints, the furs, the gloves, the Mary Janes... SUBLIME
..I'll take one of everything thanks Consuelo..
anywhoo I'm looking a little like so at the moment,
it's not cold enough to justify a full fur, but not quite warm enough for me to traipse around in a biker jacket with out fear of getting frostbitten, so my compromise is a fur gillet over a biker jacket.

Jane Russell

one of the last remaining movie stars from the Golden Age of cinema has left us and gone to Hollywood Heaven, where you sleep on silk sheets and under fur throws, diamonds hang from your chandeliers, you're ferried around in a black chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce, you gargle with Dom Perignon and you do lunch with Lauren, Katherine, Lana and Marilyn..
